Sharon Newton was already a Latin dancer when she fell in love with kizomba and semba. She has trained across the U.S. and in Portugal, and she studied with such esteemed artists as Petchu and Vanessa, Chalianna, Jeffrey Kizomba, and Bernadeth Mabungo.

Sharon is passionate about sharing her knowledge of the history, dance, and culture of kizomba. She believes that dance is both a tool for personal expression and a pathway through which people can forge meaningful, social connections.

Sharon has an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology; she joined the Masacote team in 2016, with the goal of creating a united kizomba community in the New England area.

“Thank you so much for everything you did for the Mambo Mania family concert. It was a pleasure getting to know and working closely with you. Including dance in this family concert really added so much to this show. And I loved that we were able to weave in some showcase dancing along with an opportunity to get the audience up and dancing. It was the perfect icing on the cake for this very special family concert.”
